On April 26, 2021, Independent Research Fund Denmark has specified the rules for calculation of the PhD age. This means that the call now specifies that applicants who reach a PhD age below 3 years, on the grounds that maternity/parental leave is deducted by a factor of 2 instead of 1, will be considered as being within the PhD age limit and thus as eligible to apply for the Inge Lehmann programme 2021.
On March 26, 2021, Independent Research Fund Denmark (DFF) published the call for proposals for the Inge Lehmann programme. The application deadline for the programme is June 17 at 12:00 (noon). The objective of the Inge Lehmann programme is to strengthen the talent development within Danish research by promoting a more even gender ratio in research environments in Denmark.
DFF wishes to focus the Inge Lehmann programme on younger researchers who have gained extensive research experience, equaling a minimum of 3 years, after obtaining their PhD degree. Consequently, DFF has implemented fixed limits on the applicants’ PhD age, meaning that applicants for the Inge Lehmann programme must have obtained a PhD degree or equivalent qualifications within minimum 3 and maximum 6 years at the time of the application deadline. The PhD age is calculated as the period of time between acquiring the PhD (the date as it appears on the PhD diploma) and the date of the application deadline.
The fund takes potential leaves of absence into consideration when calculating the PhD age.
