Independent Research Fund Denmark signs "Agreement on Reforming Research Assessment"

With the “Agreement on Reforming Research Assessment signatories among European research organisations and research funding organisations commit to implementing a number of principles and commitments with the aim of advancing a broader take on research assessment. The fund now begins a reform process lasting until 2027.

The aim is to promote a broader and more holistic approach to the assessment of research quality, results and career paths, so that a wider range of research activities are recognised. Excellent research is not just the classic research publication,’ says chair of the board of Independent Research Fund Denmark, Maja Horst

One of the focus areas of Independent Research Fund Denmark’s strategy ‘Grobund for nybrud 2021-2023’ (In Danish) is to ensure the best possible assessment of the applications which the fund receives. To achieve this Independent Research Fund Denmark will review its assessment procedures in light of the Agreement on Reforming Research Assessment.

The Agreement on Reforming Research Assessment is aimed at organisations that assess research, researchers and research organisations. The objective is to help organisations to ensure that in their assessment processes the focus is on the quality and impact of the research, and that they recognise the full range of research results and research-related tasks.

Independent Research Fund Denmark now begins its work on reforming the fund’s research assessment. The process will continue until 2027. Independent Research Fund Denmark will, as far as possible, exchange experiences with other foundations and organisations in Denmark and in Europe.
