Which labor market structures contribute to the exclusion of young people with psychiatric diagnoses? Does placement outside the home lead to negative consequences later in life? What legal and digital barriers prevent vulnerable children and youth from participating in the digital welfare state?

These are just some of the questions the ten new research projects will seek to answer.

The projects have been carefully reviewed and assessed by the fund’s thematic committee, DFF | Thematic research – Vulnerable children and youth, poor well-being, loneliness and elderly.

»There has been a large number of highly qualified applications, and the competition has been tough. The research projects are of high quality and also cover various methods and perspectives on the challenges, which is a clear strength for Danish research,« says Mattias Strandh, chair of the thematic committee.

The committee has also allocated funding for research projects under the themes ‘Research on elderly and ageing’ and ‘Research on loneliness’ which will be announced in the coming days.

The new research projects aim to support capacity building in this area and ensure strengthened coordination of practice-oriented research.

»With the significant interest in this grant and the many strong research projects submitted, there is great potential to build capacity in research on poor well-being and vulnerable children and youth. There is no doubt that this is a critical research area, and I am pleased that we can contribute to the wide range of research needed in this field,« says Søren Serritzlew, chair of the board of Independent Research Fund Denmark.
