In 2025, Independent Research Fund Denmark will allocate funds for Arctic research including research on climate change and sustainable Arctic communities. Applications will be assessed by a thematic committee, which has now been appointed.
The fund’s Board of Directors has appointed the members of the thematic committee for Arctic research. The committee will assess the applications for the new, thematic funding instrument DFF-Thematic.
The committee consists of Greenlandic, Faroese, Danish and international researchers with research expertise on Arctic research and aspects of culture, society and natural sciences that the theme concerns. Members are appointed by the Board of Directors in their personal capacity, and the committee is appointed ad hoc for one year at a time.
Previous to the appointment of the committee, Independent Research Fund Denmark has invited Greenland Research Council, Research Council Faroe Islands and Forum for Arctic Research to suggest potential committee members. Independent Research Fund Denmark appreciate their suggestions, which have been central to the appointment of the committee, and all three organisations have suggested several members that afterwards have been appointed to the committee by the Board of Directors.
