Independent Research Fund Denmark will participate as a partner in the upcoming Resilient Cultural Heritage partnership under Horizon Europe. Preparations are underway, and the partnership is expected to be launched in 2026.
From 2026, Independent Research Fund Denmark will join the Horizon Europe co-funded partnership Resilient Cultural Heritage (RCH). Preparatory work has begun, and the partnership is expected to be active from 2026 to 2032. During the partnership’s lifetime, a number of calls will be announced within the thematic area of the partnership. These calls will be relevant to researchers working with cultural heritage and climate and environmental changes, including the significance of cultural heritage for societies, identity, and local communities.
With the fund’s participation, researchers in Denmark will have the opportunity to apply for funding through the calls that the fund supports within the partnership. As the calls are announced, they will be available on the fund’s website.
The EU, together with EU Member States, is investing more than EUR 20 billion in various partnerships through Horizon Europe, the EU’s framework programme for research and innovation for the period 2021–27. Several partnerships are expected to be launched during 2025–2027, including Resilient Cultural Heritage (RCH), which Independent Research Fund Denmark has decided to join as a Danish partner. The final decision on the implementation and design of the partnership is expected in autumn 2025.
The partnerships bring together the European Commission and public institutions in a joint effort to find solutions to Europe’s biggest challenges, including climate change, environmental pollution, biodiversity loss, and digital transformation, and constitute a key element of Horizon Europe.
The aim of the Resilient Cultural Heritage partnership is to safeguard our shared cultural heritage for future generations and contribute to making Europe more resilient and climate-neutral. The partnership will support development and coordination in the field of cultural heritage, including the launch of joint international funding calls, and promote innovative solutions in the field through other activities.
The partnership falls under Horizon Europe’s Pillar II, Global Challenges and European Industrial Competitiveness, and is one of two planned partnerships within Cluster 2: Culture, Creativity and Inclusive Society.
