Webinar invitation: Thematic research 2025

Independent Research Fund Denmark will host three webinars on 1, 2, and 3 April 2025 for those who are considering applying for the fund’s thematic call in 2025. The webinars will be held in English and will, among other things, include an overview of the politically determined themes, an introduction to the fund’s new thematic instrument, requirements for your application as well as the assessment criteria based on which your application will be assessed.

The webinars will be held on the following dates: 

Tuesday 1 April 2025, 10am – 11am CEST (Danish time: 10:00 - 11:00)

Wednesday 2 April 2025, 1pm – 2pm CEST (Danish time: 13:00 – 14:00)

Thursday 3 April 2025, 3pm – 4pm CEST (Danish time: 15:00 - 16:00)

In 2025, Independent Research Fund Denmark will distribute funds for thematic research within the following themes:

  • Arctic research – Climate change and sustainable arctic communities
  • Green research
  • Postdoctoral Exchange Programme in Quantum Research
  • Research in psychiatry 
  • Research on antisemitism
  • Research on artificial intelligence
  • Research on elderly and ageing
  • Research on learning and well-being in primary schools
  • Research on vulnerability and poor well-being
  • Strengthened clinical and independent research
  • Strengthened research in specialized social services

The webinars will be held in English.

The agenda will be the same for all three webinars and will, among other things, touch upon the following topics:

  • Overview of the politically determined themes of 2025
  • An introduction to the fund’s new thematic instrument
  • General requirements for your application
  • Assessment criteria and assessment procedure
  • The application system: E-grant
  • Interviews with selected committee chairs of the thematic ad hoc committees
    • On Tuesday 1 April, the chairs of the committees “Research on elderly, vulnerability and poor well-being” (Mattias Strandh), “Strengthened clinical and independent research” (Kaare Christensen) and “Research on learning and well-being in primary schools” (Ane Qvortrup) will participate
    • On Wednesday 2 April, the chairs of the committees “Research on artificial intelligence” (Ira Assent) and “Green research” (Jan O. Jeppesen) will participate
    • On Thursday 3 April, the chairs of the committees “Research in psychiatry” (Mikael Landén), “Strengthened research in specialized social services” (Ulla-Karin Schön) and “Arctic research – Climate change and sustainable arctic communities” (Thomas Ingeman-Nielsen) will participate.

Please note that “Research on learning and well-being in primary schools” with chair Ane Qvortrup has been moved to the webinar on Tuesday 1 April.

The webinars are aimed at all potential applicants and others, who might have an interest in learning more about the thematic call. 

You are very welcome to share the invitation with anyone who might be interested in the calls.

The webinars will be conducted using Zoom. Please note that the maximum number of participants is 1,000 per webinar.

Participation in the webinar is free of charge and registration is not required. The spots are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

The webinars will not be recorded.

Once the webinars have been conducted, the Power Point presentation will be made available on the fund’s website for a limited period.
