Independent Research Fund Denmark has awarded just over DKK 40 million to 19 researchers through the DFF-International Postdoctoral Grant. The grants give early-career researchers the opportunity to carry out an independent research project at a research institution abroad and strengthen their academic competences.
With the DFF-International Postdoctoral Grant, Independent Research Fund Denmark aims to strengthen the international mobility of talented early-career researchers while also helping to develop the research competences of researchers at the beginning of their careers.

The 19 grant recipients will now have the opportunity to independently carry out a research project at a research institution abroad. The stay will allow them to consolidate their academic profile, build international collaborations and strengthen their future career opportunities in research.
Among other topics, the new grants will support research into whether it is possible to build a living cell based on non-living components, how offshore wind turbines could benefit from solar panels installed around them, and how certain stellar collisions create heavy elements such as gold and uranium.

»Through international postdoctoral grants, the fund aims to give early-career researchers the opportunity to immerse themselves academically in strong international research environments while developing a clear independent profile. This helps strengthen both the individual researcher’s career and Danish research as a whole,« says Søren Serritzlew, Chair of the Board of Independent Research Fund Denmark.
The researchers will travel to research institutions in a number of countries around the world, though primarily in Europe. Destinations include London, Stockholm, Amsterdam, New York and Glasgow.
Please note that the grant amounts and the number of grants may be subject to change following the upcoming administrative review.
