Objective:

The objective of this call for proposals is to lay the foundations for research on climate-resilient cultural heritage by connecting cultural heritage and climate and environmental change research with integrated, inclusive preparedness management, and governance strategies, considering the societal importance of both cultural heritage and climate and environmental action. By building on multiple (local, traditional and scientific) knowledge systems, this call for proposals embraces inter- and transdisciplinary approaches, creating an effective framework for collaboration and participation in the fields of cultural heritage resilience and climate and environmental change. The call also aims to firmly embed the framework to be developed within society and business by integrating not only scientific knowledge but also knowledge from traditions and local communities, and by doing so, investigate how civil society can effectively contribute to cultural heritage’s preparedness and resilience against the impact of climate change. Therefore, project proposals should include relevant participation from researchers from different disciplines (including social sciences, humanities and climate change), practitioners, policymakers, decision-makers, community stakeholders and/or other knowledge holders. Other partners may be found in the cultural and creative industries (CCIs), and cultural and education institutions, including galleries, libraries, archives and museums (GLAMs). Projects are also encouraged to make use of existing datasets and research infrastructures in both the cultural heritage, and climate and environmental domains.
