Populist and authoritarian leaders across the globe have been increasingly critical of international law and institutions; some even attempted to exercise forms of backlash seeking to limit the power and authority of international courts. This project explores how international courts are responding to such increased criticism by upholding the international rule of law in their practices. While there is not actual agreement on content of the international rule of law, through the use of machine learning tools, the project seeks to find similarities and differences in how international courts have contstructed the international rule of law and defended it against it critics.
