Independent Research Fund Denmark emphasizes that interdisciplinary applications have the same opportunities to obtain research grants as single-disciplinary applications and supports high-quality interdisciplinary as well as single-disciplinary projects.
The five professional councils each take care of the interdisciplinarity that lies within the councils' professional boundaries. Applications that cross the boundaries of the professional councils are dealt with in cooperation between the professional councils and coordinated by DFF | Cross-council Committee, consisting of the chairmen from the five professional councils. The committee's work is supported by expert members from the councils.
Independent Research Fund Denmark has set aside a special pool for those applications that are assessed to be genuinely cross-council.
