Independent Research Fund Denmark aims to enable researchers to test their best and most original ideas and to enhance the quality of Danish research for the benefit of society in general.
In order to support this vision, in 2024 Independent Research Fund Denmark published its new strategy for 2024-2026 "Independent Ressearch in a changing world".

With this strategy, Independent Research Fund Denmark (DFF) aims to strengthen free research, ensure diversity, and adapt to a changing research funding landscape through three key focus areas:
- With its new strategy, the fund will not only promote the most groundbreaking ideas but also work to support the flourishing of independent research in a changing research funding landscape. We believe this will lay the foundation for the knowledge that will shape the future of Denmark and the world. In a time of rapid global change, where challenges like climate, technology, and global security demand new solutions, it is essential that researchers have the freedom to work creatively and originally," stated Chairman Søren Serritzlew at the launch of the new strategy in 2024.
